WebKit Implements ARIA
WebKit, the open source application framework behind Safari and other browsers, announced that they have started to add support for WAI-ARIA on the Gnome mailing list yesterday. They have added global support for the tabindex
attribute, and have added support for basic ARIA roles.
This is great news, as all four of the major browsers, Firefox, Opera, IE8, and Safari now have support for WAI-ARIA to some extent.

It's about time... The open source platforms should be the easiest of all the major players to get this implemented. They receive addons and plugins every day for things more complicated then ARIA. Hopefully this will be a sign of things to come.
